Labor Day has a great meaning to the workforce of today. However, few know what it really means. I do not like to attack one particular company, although in this case, Publix will be my victim.

Publix was the premiere supermarket in my time. Closed on Sunday's high standards in hiring practices, and the list goes on and on. Publix really cared about the employee (the Labor force).

Today is Labor Day and how many Publix Supermarkets are open? Where is the observance of Labor Day to the labor force?

Significant observation folks.

Hillsborough County School Board member has moved from the district that elected her. Does anyone seem to really care? As a constituent this should bother many a voters. I can understand the delemmia of getting divorced, losing 50 percent of another income. What I cannot understand is why after the ethics opin from Tallahassee and the local board, why is this person still in office.

The ethical stance should be, you don't live here, you can't represent here. When you take the oath of office, you take the oath to follow the rules. How can you enforce rules or regulations that you yourself do not follow. As a voter this should be a concern.

With my recent move, I can appreciate the upheaval, SERIOUSLY. However, I can also understand that if a job says you must live in a certain area, you must live there or give up that job. I have held 2 specific jobs that have mandatated where I live. When I wanted to move, I left those jobs.

It's time to start following the rules folks.

I will start off with the most annoying. Moving downtown was not the dream I once imagined. It was no Mary Tyler Moore hat throwing occasion I can tell you. I have been lucky enough to sublet (woo the NY term in sunny funny Florida) my humble place to a corporation that was more than willing to pay 2 times the overpriced amount I paid.

The pitfalls were plenty, no access, telephone worked when the solar eclipse happened, and lets just say the night scene was pretty close to 5th encounter of the weirdest.

I missed my local political shows on tv that it drove me to attend in person. Not nearly as entertaining, and I cannot wear my fuzzy slippers while watching. The whole in person thing was just not in the cards for me.

I missed a lot of chirping I tell you, and I have one post I am geared up to release... What is with the School Board lady that moved????

Stay tuned Cricket is back and full of interesting insights...

Well I settled on my new diggs. I am moving to the Grand at Kennedy. Great view and the area seems to be eclectic and vibrant. I seriously scored with Diamond Furniture going out of business, I am totally decorated in retro neat-o.

Living in downtown somehow brings me closer to the happenings and I am looking forward to moving in a few weeks. The best part? I only have to write 2 checks. Almost everything is included except electric. Telephone is included and cable. The state of the art kitchen sold me, I love to cook and entertain.

The fourth was very hazy for me. The weather sucked, the parade in Brandon was hot, and the neighbors rocked my house until 1:39 a.m. until I went outside in my pj's and convinced them the visual would only get worse if they continued.

It was amazing to hear about the mishaps with the fireworks over at the step-families (Pinellas County). I am very nervous about fireworks and try to stay away from the actual area of explosion.

Tampa did us proud with Channelside having a show that was really neat. I would have liked to be on StarShip dinner boat, but at $70.00 a person, that was a little steep for even a big spender like myself (haha).

The let down of the holiday has been very blah. The EPC Director is getting the boot for blogging, and quite frankly it sucks. But that is the price you pay for having an opinion.

Makes you wonder... I was asked to join Sticks of Fire blog (best blog on the blog network I might add) but due to the professional and personal not crossing for me, it was a sad point in my life to say "thanks, but I have to stay chirping over here"

Please visit Sticks of Fire http://www.sticksoffire.com it's the blog of blogs!

The great political leaders say cut the fat from the budget and the first thing to roll; employees. Let's talk about the pork that is in the budget. For instance, why do the municipalities own so much land? Or let's talk about really cutting back and making sacrifices.

At home when the belt needs to be tightened do you cut out what you might buy in the future? No. You cut out what is a luxury and not a necessity and you make sacrifices. For instance the Mayor seems unaffected by the crunch, cut out the perks of company cars. That's right, cut the executives car allowances, and company cars. That would save on liability, car insurance, and maintenance of vehicles, as well as the purchase of vehicles. Further, why does the Mayor need a driver? Take a look around other suffering municipalities in the state and see how many are driving themselves.

I am not just picking on the Mayor, but I think cutting comes from the top and should follow with the unnecessary luxuries that are costing working people their jobs.

I applaud Charlie Miranda and I don't really know him, he willfully gave back his travel allowances. Did the others? No.

As the city decapitates the employees and next the services it provides to the community, why would anyone want to come here and live, work, and or visit?

The City needs to stop using the city coffers as a slush fund and start making money instead of depending on taxes to constantly fund the City. Get creative, use the over-paid, over-inflated staff to make money.
