The great political leaders say cut the fat from the budget and the first thing to roll; employees. Let's talk about the pork that is in the budget. For instance, why do the municipalities own so much land? Or let's talk about really cutting back and making sacrifices.
At home when the belt needs to be tightened do you cut out what you might buy in the future? No. You cut out what is a luxury and not a necessity and you make sacrifices. For instance the Mayor seems unaffected by the crunch, cut out the perks of company cars. That's right, cut the executives car
allowances, and company cars. That would save on liability, car insurance, and maintenance of vehicles, as well as the purchase of vehicles. Further, why does the Mayor need a driver? Take a look around other suffering municipalities in the state and see how many are driving themselves.
I am not just picking on the Mayor, but I think cutting comes from the top and should follow with the unnecessary luxuries that are costing working people their jobs.
I applaud Charlie Miranda and I don't really know him, he willfully gave back his travel
allowances. Did the others? No.
As the city
decapitates the employees and next the services it provides to the community, why would anyone want to come here and live, work, and or visit?
The City needs to stop using the city coffers as a slush fund and start making money instead of depending on taxes to constantly fund the City. Get creative, use the over-paid, over-inflated staff to make money.
