I just came back from a Northeast trip. Made a visit to the Jersey Shore. When I left Tampa, I parked at a remote lot and was dropped off by a pleasant driver. He said that it has been a busy month for them since the Tampa Airport is so confusing with their parking. I could echo that statement. My weekly trip to Miami has me paying out the nose for a one day stay. Also, I didn't realize the economy lot at the airport was as reasonable.

So, after I arrived at the airport and made it on my flight, I had the best time ever. When I arrived at Atlantic City Airport it was heaven. My cab driver was awesome. Very pleasant and very helpful. After taking me to pick up my friend, we headed back to the airport and not only did he offer some advice, (even though I am a Jersey girl) he was very thoughtful about my plans. I picked up my rental car and hit the Shore. I had boardwalk fever and I needed to get to Wildwood.

Even though I had a car, I found taking a cab back and forth to Cape May to be useful and non-stressful. Parking is a premium and it was easier hailing a cab or riding the bus. YOU heard that right, PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION.

After I said goodbye to growing up Gotti wannabees, I headed back to the airport, back to Tampa and realized once again... Tampa needs a shot of B12 or something. As I waited for my parking place to pick me up, I was glad to see the yellow cabs making their rounds. I saw only one of the white cabs and they were not getting the fares like the yellow cabs. Maybe something is to that...

Back home for now, however, off to Boston for a clam bake... Life is grand!

Have you noticed that 3 weekends have everything going on, then its a lull? Do I really want to drive to Pinellas for fun? Answer is.NO. So much to offer and what is going on? I plan on hitting the Art Exhibit and maybe if I feel the urge some sort of dinner/club who the heck am I kidding, it will be the same ole thing.

Actually this just came me to... the restaurant Spain has the show on the weekend... hmm Flamenco dancers. It's something to see if you have never seen it, and the food is awesome !

Anyone else have any ideas?

Tampa seems to be moving fast on a hamster wheel. Recently, I discovered all that glitters is really gold and what doesn't is Platinum. You see we strive for gold instead of perfection. Which in all intensive purposes is platinum.

Tampa Bay is making progress in building and growing, but what are we missing? I think it's the big picture. If you read the newspaper or watch the news, crime has risen dramatically. In the past 3 months, police officers have been shot or have shot someone. Husbands have killed wives while children watch. Young people killed in drive-by shootings. We are at WAR and the soldiers are stretched. This time, I am not talking about the War overseas. I am talking about the WAR in our own backyard.

Society is becoming a little too accepting of the violence and the excuse of mental distress. No where is it acceptable to kill someone because you are having a bad day. No where is it acceptable to kill yourself because you just want to live another life, or have a better this or that. The demons in your head are there for a reason, you put them there. You go to the doctor and what happens? Doctors treat symptoms not issues. How many have a prescription of Xanax "just in case"? You know to take the edge off when things are too stressful?

I am not sure this is the place for me. After living here for more than time can tell, I am thinking that this isn't a hometown, it's a one way trip to death.

The thought of firing an employee right now has me concerned on many levels. Will this person take it well, will they kill themselves, their family, ME? Let's not take into consideration this person is doing an awful job, is lazy, unproductive and is stealing from the company. I fear retaliation for the first time ever. You can document your ass crazy, but judgment day comes and people cannot accept responsibility for what they have done. BAM. YOU ARE THE BAD GUY.

Way too much to think about. Life around town is scary.

Yesterday while attempting to hit Westshore Mall during lunch, I realized one major snag. Kennedy Blvd is under construction. Detours led me to a mini migraine. As I made my way back on a side street, it appears Mini Tampa isn't so mini. With the growth of new buildings cropping up, you would think we are a real metropolitan city. Clearly missing many attributes of a real Metro City.

So the drive made me think. If I were visiting what would I think? Nice climate, streets look clean, nice setting, cool places. Wait I need to make a U turn at cool places. Opps. Look OUT it's a one way street. Man oh man.

The designers of Tampa cannot possibly think the one way streets that have detour signs miss placed are helpful, can they?

After losing an eighth of an inch in tire rubber from slamming on my brakes to avoid going the wrong way, I realized maybe I should be a little nicer to those cars with other tags on. Don't get mad when they go the wrong way... Tampa seems action packed, and we seem to get the visitors, lets hope they can find their way back.

Many folks are gathering for the explosion of transit. Ok, call it what you will, I call it this... NOT HAPPENING. Still can't get there from here!

Back in the day the ole MPO would meet, discuss the roads, the transit and a few things would muster up to Tally for a little sit and spin. Then, after it made it back down to "slam it down the local area throat" not much would happen.

Along came Tampa Trolley. This is going to move people from here to there. Make downtown viable, the Channelside district will come alive. The first week the buffoon trolley was in operation, 4 accidents occurred at the USF Building. Not like you can't see the yellow trolley, no one really thinks about it.

On May 11, 2007 there is a downtown rally or gathering or building notification for ride sharing and our building which shall remain nameless (but not smell-less because we have the rocking est restaurant) will have a little debate with the people in the moving and placing. What do you think will come of it?

My money is on this... Hey Stan, how are you? You know the parking down here is terrible. I cannot believe the amount of people that travel in downtown. Where do they all live. LATHER.RINSE.REPEAT.

Stay tuned or check out the Planning chick on Sticks of Fire.
